Construction Updates

Welcome back to the Gallagher Bluedorn! We are excited for the future spaces that will be taking shape this year. In order to bring you these fantastic new experiences, we ask for your patience as their construction will impact how you access the Gallagher Bluedorn.

The biggest impact to our guests this season will be the closure of Dakota Street, the front driveway of the Gallagher Bluedorn. With this closure, guests wishing to be dropped off will need to use the Ohio Street entrance on the west side of the building. Directional signage will be prominently displayed.

Guests looking for our valet parking services will also find this relocated to the west door on Ohio Street.

The main entrance on the front of the building will remain open for the entire 23-24 season, so guests parking in the Friends parking areas or across the street will still be able to enter at the front main entrance.

The new Gallagher Bluedorn ticket office in the lobby will be the first space completed, expected mid Fall. Prior to the new space opening, the ticket office will continue to serve guests during the day at the Strayer Wood Theatre location at 3501 W 27th St, Cedar Falls. For event nights, ticket sales and Will Call will be set up on tables in the lobby until the new ticket office is complete.

Another impact of our construction will be a reduced number of restrooms available to our guests. While we will continue to have restrooms on all three levels, we will have a portable restroom trailer for our larger attended performances and will work with our guest artists for longer intermission times to give extra time for guests to use the restroom. Please note that the portable restroom trailer is NOT accessible for those with mobility issues.

So, what does this all mean? You will experience the same dynamic world-class performances and all the patron-centered services you’ve come to expect from the Gallagher Bluedorn, simply delivered in a different way. But rest assured: our staff, student employees and volunteer ushers will do everything we can to ensure your experience is as hassle-free as possible. And our experiences this season will only build excitement for our grand reopening during the 2024-25 season!
