Lobby Lighting at Gallagher Bluedorn: The 34th Annual Festival of Trees
The Gallagher Bluedorn is a known host for numerous events in the Cedar Valley. The Our Tomorrow campaign promises to renovate, expand, and renew the facility to provide even more ways to support and expand our community services.
One such event is the annual Festival of Trees by the Friends of MercyOne Cedar Falls, which Gallagher Bluedorn has been home to since 2001. Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused the festival to go virtual for the past 2 years, the celebration is excited to make its full comeback with the 34th annual event running November 15-20. Festival of Trees chair Kerri Wilson shares that they are excited to be in-person again beacuse there is more opportunity for connection, which results in a more successful fundraiser. Funds raised at this event are used to support renovations, medical equipment, and improved services at MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center.
The 5-day festival offers something for everyone with different events held each day, including the "Gallery of Trees," which is the Friends of MercyOne’s gift to the community that is free and open to the public to enjoy. Events held among the trees include a veterans’ breakfast, arts and craft projects, game day, and a night of food and beverages. Most events require registration. Additionally, there is a holiday gift shop and a silent auction to bid on select trees - including the famous wine tree.
Kerri Wilson, Festival of Trees chair said, “We’re looking forward to the remodeled lobby space that will offer expanded space for events, and a dedicated lounge space that encourages people to stay longer and enjoy the displays and activities. The Gallagher Bluedorn staff are the best and make holding the event at the University of Northern Iowa a pleasure. The improved lobby will make Festival of Trees even better.”
You can’t miss the spectacular forest of decorated trees lit up in the lobby when you drive by at night, so be sure to stop in and experience the holiday magic. Parking is available in the lot next to the the Gallagher Bluedorn.
