UNI Impact
The Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts is fully integrated into the Academic mission of the University of Northern Iowa. The Center's primary user is UNI's nationally recognized School of Music. Every Music major has dozens of opportunities to rehearse and perform in the Gallagher Bluedorn's state of the art 1650 seat concert hall. Working together the School of Music and Theater Department regularly presents large scale productions in collaboration that no one department could do on their own. Regular patrons at the Gallagher often find these collaborative productions to be every bit as good as touring shows. The Gallagher Bluedorn is an applied laboratory for students from across the spectrum of UNI majors who can put their classroom learning to the test in a real world business, communications, fundraising, finance, event management, technical theater and performance experiences.
Gateway to Campus
The Gallagher Bluedorn is the front porch of the University, a place where our communities come to share experiences and work together. For many Iowans and Midwesterners, experiences at the Gallagher Bluedorn are the entry point to their relationship with the University of Northern Iowa. Some 45,000 Prek-12 students come to know Gallagher Bluedorn and by extension the University as a place to learn and have fun every year through the Kaleidoscope Series.
